Quick fixes for your Aching Back

Not a surefire way to cure your aching back but doctors say it ease the pain, at least.

Nearly 30% of women say they've suffered back pain in the past 3 months. "Most don't even know why they're sore," says William Ackerman, M.D., author of The Gender Factor: Pain Management for Men & Women. Try these little changes to feel better fast:

1. WALK IN COMFY FLATS

High heels put excess pressure on bones in your feet and elevate your arches, pushing hips forward as you walk. This can strain the muscles and joints near the lower spine, so wait until you get to work to slip on those heels.

2. STRETCH AT YOUR DESK

When you're anxious, you tighten muscles, which decreases blood flow to your back. "This causes a dull ache that can be relieved by light exercise," Ackerman says. Every few hours, get up and bend forward and side to side to improve blood flow.

3. WEAR THE RIGHT BRA

Straps that are too tight squeeze the trapezius, the muscle that connects the neck to the shoulder, triggering poor circulation and pain in your upper back. But wearing a properly fitted underwire bra will take as much as 90% of your breasts' weight off your shoulders, says Susan Nethero, author of BraTalk: Myths and Facts.

Headmaster kicks student unconscious

This must be an act of punishment before checking the facts:

HM kicks 11-year-old student in the ribs

Labuan: An 11-year-old became unconscious after he was kicked in the ribs by his headmaster in a school, here.

Mohd Izzuddin Zainuddin later said he was supposed say that he collapsed after a fall during a game in school.

His mother Roslaila Jimlin, 35, said she and her husband rushed here from Kota Kinabalu after receiving a call from Izzuddin's friends about the incident Thursday evening.

"I found out that the headmaster had kicked my son after a teacher told him that Izzuddin and his friends had punctured her car tyre after getting the rumour from another student," she said.

She said it was later found that the teacher's vehicle was not damaged, nor was its tyre punctured as claimed. Izzuddin and his friends were only sitting near the teacher's car while resting after a marching rehearsal to prepare for the coming Maulidur Rasul.
